Almost Thessalon! Captain Daniel Robertson and the Search for a Site to Replace British Fort Mackinac after the American Revolution
Presented by author and historian Dr. Todd E. Harburn
This second year of the 250th commemoration of the American Revolution has continued focus on the events that resulted in the birth of our nation. Although most of those events took place in the eastern colonies, our Great Lakes region was involved in some important events in the western theater of the war. While only a small footnote, one of those events involved Captain Daniel Robertson, the last British Commandant at Fort Mackinac, who was assigned the task of finding a site to replace that post at the end of the war.
Come learn about his fascinating journey and some lesser-known facts about his observations, the locations and beautiful landscapes he witnessed that can still be experienced today, while imagining the adventure and aura of that era.
